International Equality Day Network Reception, Geneva

May 3, 2018

As a sign of solidarity and pride as well as to promote equality for all families, the International Family Equality Day (IFED) was launched in 2012. Since then events and celebrations have been spreading all over the globe and last year’s IFED has been commemorated in 44 countries and over 100 cities, with eight new countries such as Argentina, Brazil, China and Thailand joining the IFED family. Among the IFED achievements, the Council of Europe has recognized the IFED as an important tool to promote a tolerant and cohesive society.

This year’s IFED will be celebrated under the motto of «Children’s Rights Matter». In too many parts of the world, children with LGBTIQ* parents still do not enjoy the same rights as children in traditional families. This lack of proper legal protection is discriminating and leaves the children in an intolerable state of insecurity. This is why the IFED motto for 2018 focuses on children rights.

The reception will be held in cooperation with the town of Geneva ( Service Agenda 21 – Ville durable ) in the Palais Eynard.

Our Founder and Executive Director Bess has been invited to attend and moderate a panel at the reception.  We are thrilled and honored to be invited and to be given this prestigious opportunity to be further amplifying the voices in the Asia-Pacific region.
