Miles of Love: Hong Kong: TDoR – A Night of Trans Remembrance in Hong Kong
October 9, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
This event will discuss death, murder, transphobia and hate crimes.
Every year on November 20th, around the world we remember and honour the lives of trans and gender-diverse people reported murdered in the past 12 months.
This is a difficult but vital night to grieve and heal as a community. For those who are cisgender, this is a chance to support the transgender community and honour those we have lost all too soon.
Special readings, performances and an intimate candlelight vigil will be held.
This event prioritizes transgender and gender-diverse people. Please keep this in mind during the event and consider how much space you are occupying. Any kind of homophobia, transphobia, racism, or ableism will not be tolerated. If you do not respect the space, you will be asked to leave.
The event will be held in the Music Room on the 4/F of Eaton Hotel. The room is accessible by wheelchair from the elevators located in the parking lot of the hotel; the lot entrance is on Pak Hoi Street. The entryway into the Music Room is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair or mobility device; the doors will be propped open. The floors are carpeted and there will be couches and armchairs suitable for seating bodies of various sizes.
There are gendered bathrooms (men and women) on the 4/F, which are not wheelchair accessible. The nearest accessible single-occupancy bathroom is on floor B1, which can be accessed by elevator.
Given the nature of the event, active listeners (fluent in English and Cantonese) will be available for support. They will be located at the back of the room and will be identified at the beginning of the event.
If you need any additional accessibility accommodations or information, please feel free to message us.
